Tips to Staying Positive in Adverse Times

Who has had a difficult time in life where no matter what you did, misfortune managed to find its way into the mix?  During these times of hardship, it can become very easy to get down on yourself and to lose the confidence to move ahead and overcome.  Maintaining a positive frame of mind can feel almost impossible - however there are some things that you can do to get and keep your spirits up.

1. Find some reason, any reason, to laugh and laugh HARD.  Laughter is one of the best medicines you can have.

2. Give "the glass is half full" mentality a shot -- think of the things in your life that you have and are thankful for.  Whether it's family, friends, employment, health, a roof over your head -- there is something that you have in your life that you are thankful for and reassures you that EVERYTHING is not all bad

3. Prayer and Faith - know that you are not alone in this world and that there is a higher power that has a plan for your life that is out of your control.

4.  Be around positive people - Misery loves company, but that company does not have to include you.  Find someone that is upbeat and positive to spend time with.  You'll be surprised how much their energy and positivity will rub off on you over time.
